Bathymetric Survey – The Wave Muscat Coastal Project

GIS Mappers, in partnership with Nusail Engineering Consultancy, successfully completed a bathymetric survey along The Wave Muscat coastline in the Sultanate of Oman. The objective was to generate accurate seabed profiles for engineering design, bidding, and dredging volume calculations.

The survey covered the offshore area around Seeb Harbour with line spacing set at a minimum of 5 to 10 meters. Using an Odom Hydrotrac single-frequency echo sounder (200 kHz) and Sokkia RTK GPS system, high-accuracy depth data was collected.

HydroPro software was utilized to process the bathymetric data. Maps with contour lines at 0.25 m intervals and a scale of 1:750 (A0 size) were generated. Survey outputs included DWG and DXF files along with ASCII coordinates (x, y, z).

The project also involved correlating measured seawater levels with tide prediction tables and local tide gauge data. A volume calculation for pre-dredge comparison was provided as part of the final report.

This survey supports ongoing marine infrastructure development and environmental management at The Wave Muscat, ensuring precision data for future engineering projects.
