GIS Mappers, in collaboration with Nusail Engineering Consultancy, successfully conducted a bathymetric survey at Sohar Port Region for Majis Industrial Services Company (MISC) and Veolia L.L.C. This survey aims to monitor seabed profiles and detect settlement differences in the seawater intake and pumping station essential for Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant operations.
Using an Odom Echotrac MKIII dual-frequency echo sounder (210 kHz and 33 kHz) combined with Sokkia RTK GPS, precise seabed profiling was achieved with ±50mm accuracy. Real-time tide corrections were applied using a Valeport Tide Gauge, ensuring accurate depth measurements.
The survey adhered to Hydrographic standards, with CTD dips and bar checks conducted daily. Data were processed using HydroPro software, referenced in UTM Zone 40Q coordinates based on WGS84 vertical datum (Chart Datum).
Deliverables included bathymetric charts at a 1:1000 scale highlighting irregular seabed features critical for intake station monitoring. These results support sustainable port operations and marine infrastructure planning.
