Hydrographic & Topographic Survey of
Six Fishery Harbours

GIS Mappers successfully completed a comprehensive bathymetric and topographic survey across six proposed fishery harbours along the coast of Oman. This project was initiated to support Worley Parsons in the accurate engineering design of harbour facilities. With our advanced marine surveying equipment and experienced team, we delivered high-resolution seabed data and terrain mapping under strict timelines.

The survey scope involved establishing benchmarks, conducting bathymetric profiles using an Odom HT100 echo sounder, and producing DWG and ASCII-based outputs for engineering and environmental assessments. Seabed profiles were recorded at 20-meter intervals along each transect using corrected GPS data projected into UTM coordinates.

Topographic data was captured using Sokkia RTK GPS and total station systems. The final output included 1-meter contour interval maps, plotted in 1:1500 scale, highlighting natural and man-made site features including roads, pipelines, and shorelines.

GIS Mappers utilized a 32-foot hydrographic vessel, fully equipped and certified for marine field operations. Safety audits were conducted prior to deployment and all survey operations adhered to international standards and client HSE protocols.

The final result included high-resolution bathymetric charts with clear seabed morphology. Inside the fishery harbours, particularly nearshore zones, shallow depths and irregular seabed were noted. The project was completed on time with zero safety incidents.

GIS Mappers continues to lead the way in providing reliable, precise marine and land survey services throughout Oman and the Gulf region, supporting sustainable infrastructure development in the fisheries and maritime sectors.
